Top Contractor Marketing Ideas - How to Book More Jobs
Hello everyone, it’s Joe Burnich here with Big West Marketing and General Contractor Websites. What I want to talk about today is getting ideas for marketing your service based business, specifically contractors. Because this is a relatively new idea for the contractor industry and could show some real promise moving forward with online marketing.
Now, first and foremost, getting your business to rank on Google should always be a top priority. You can accomplish this either by using search engine optimization techniques which is free but time consuming or by using Adwords, which is Google’s advertising system. Either approach is fine and each has their pros and cons, but you need to get potential clients to your website from Google. (For more information on How To Get 5 Star Reviews)
Another idea I’d like to talk about is the idea of “Thermostat Marketing.” Think of it as being able to turn up the thermostat when business is slow, increasing jobs and new business. Or, if you are booked solid for months ahead, you can turn the thermostat down, so it does not look like you are incapable of taking on new work. One major way to begin your Thermostat Marketing campaign is by using a strategy known as Retargeting. This is the strategy that I’m sure you have noticed while searching around on the web: You are on a website for sporting equipment, then you move to another website but an ad appears offering a discount on the fishing pole you were just looking at! This is Retargeting and implementing it for your Contractor business could be a game-changer.
Think about it. A home-owner, a couple weeks out from pulling the trigger on a kitchen remodel is still considering contractors. They visit your website and then for the next couple of weeks, your business ad pops up while they are reading the news or looking up movie times. This is important for building trust with the client before they let you in the door.
So to get started with Retargeting, you are going to need to set up an Adwords account and focus on the Google Display Network. This is a vast network that spans common websites across the globe. Facebook also has it’s own retargeting option, so check that out. We are not going into great detail because that would be a much longer video. But get familiar with the layout and start planning ads today!
