Get Free Contractor Leads
Hello everyone, once again this is Joe Burnich with Big West Marketing and Generalcontractorwebsites.net. Free is a tough term to deal with because if you want something that doesn’t cost any money, it is probably going to involve a large time commitment. But as a business owner, you need to get out of the entitled mind set. People that don’t need to put in extra time or think of exciting new ways to generate business are called employees. It is up to you, the business owner, to never give up and continue to pour your blood, sweat and tears into your business’s success.
Now when it comes to generating leads there are two main ways to go about it: First, the personal, front-door approach. This would include joining local groups, the Chamber of Commerce, meeting new people, building relationships and contacts with other related services. All of this will create a network for your business and generate leads through personal contact. The second way is a more behind the scenes approach, working online to separate your business from everyone else out there. That is what we will discuss today, using online marketing to generate free leads.
The most effective way to get new leads online is by ranking on Google’s first page of search results, being one of the three companies to appear on the “Maps” section of the search results page. It takes time, but once you are up on top, your phone won’t stop ringing. Just make sure you have a physical address registered with Google. Also, be careful to follow Google’s guidelines that they have created for ranking in the search results. Do not try to trick or circumvent these guidelines as Google will find out and eventually punish you in the rankings.
After you have registered your address with Google, you also need to register with several other online directories like Yelp, Yellowpages and Facebook. Google will cross-reference your business’s information on it’s directory to all these others. That is why it is important that all of your business’s information is consistent across the internet. Steer clear from tweaking your company name of including different phone numbers. This will adversely affect your standing with Google and hurt you in the long run.
Next up are Google Reviews, you want more than your competitors by a long shot. Prospective clients need reviews, especially online, to build trust with your company. This is so important for contractors because a renovation or remodeling is a big task in an intimate environment. They want to have a good understanding of who you are, what you plan on doing and how you are going to do it. Reviews are a big help in this area.
So, when the time is right, ask your customers for a review. Make sure they are happy customers because we are only interested in 5 star reviews! Help them along by sending them a text or an email with the link to Google’s review page for your business. Don’t rely on them to go out and find how to write a review.
These are all things you can do for free to start getting new leads for your contractor business. I know that they require time and energy, but follow these tips and others found in my book “The Service Based Business Money Machine” to get your business off to the right start.
